ABOUT ME
Karuna Krishan Thareja is a practicing advocate with a rich and intensive experience spanning over 16 years, acting for and advising multinational corporations as they expand domestically and across borders on a wide range of matters inter-alia legal issues surrounding regulatory aspects of user generated content, brand reputation, identity theft, copyright, trademark, data protection, competition & IT laws and privacy matters. She has vast experience with Banking and IT clients. She advises clients from both the non-technology and technology-related sectors on the key commercial contracts that arise in day to day business life. These include negotiating agreements and contracts, commercial litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.

She handles civil and criminal litigation including Writs (under Article 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India, Bails, Appeals including Letters Patent Appeal and matters pertaining to dispute resolution in the Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, District Courts and Tribunals (TDSAT, APTEL and NGT) and regularly advise, act for and represent clients across the board in contractual matters.

She is a strong advocate for women and child rights and has spoken about these issues at forums condemning the growing violence against women and girls, raising the slogan — “Violence No More”, and regularly handles matters in related to Domestic Violence Act, Hindu Marriage and Adoption Act, and family matters amongst others.

She is also the Chairperson to Internal Complaints Committee constituted under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act 2013, at CVoter (Centre for Voting Opinion & Trends in Election Research), (Leading Indian international polling agency headquartered in Delhi, India).

Karuna Krishan Thareja holds a LL.M (Master of Laws), LLB (Bachelor of Laws), and an Honors degree in English Literature.

Karuna Krishan Thareja was awarded the Young Achievers Under 40 Rising Star award (in the legal arena) by Legal Era in July 2018. The award was felicitated by Minister of Industry and Commerce Union of India, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President Bar Association of India (BAOI), and Mr. Rajiv Luthra.

"It was my great honor and privilege to Judge the prestigious Justice PN Bhagwati National Moot Court Competition 2019 along with my esteemed colleagues of the legal fraternity on 11th October 2019 held at MVN University School of Law, Palwal Haryana. The Chief Guest of the event Hon'ble Mr Justice Dipak Misra, Former Chief Justice of India graced the finals on 12th October 2019. The 32 participating teams represented the top law colleges across India. The students were well prepared with legal arguments and demonstrated excellent legal aptitude, advocacy, and delineated and argued critical and sensitive issues like #genderidentity, #sexualorientation and its co-relation with #righttoprivacy, #humanrights and the constitutionally guaranteed rights with great confidence. It was an enriching experience to be on the other side of the Bench!
The wonderful students impressed me with their in-depth identification of legal principles, painstaking research of practice and procedure, as well as formulation of pleadings and grounds of objections and concise assembly of arguments and responses."
